GWADAR: The Customs Collectorate Gwadar foiled an attempt to smuggle ten kilograms of hashish into Pakistan and arrested two accused persons including driver.
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Gwadar Feroz Alam Junejo received a tip-off about the smuggling of hashish. He immediately constituted a customs team under the supervision of Assistant Collector Kaleem Ullah.
The customs team, comprising Inspector Wahid Ali Khan, Khan Imran and Wajih Qureshi set up a picket at the entry and exit points of the city and started checking of vehicles.
During the checking, the customs team intercepted a Suzuki van bearing registration no: KG-7824. The team asked the driver of the vehicle to produce the legal documents regarding the transportation of loaded so many things but he failed to do so. Custom team searched the vehicle, during searching team recovered ten kilograms of hashish which was tactfully hidden in the secret parts of the vehicle.
The customs team arrested the driver and registered a case of smuggling against him. The Customs team said that market value of seized hashish and impounded vehicle is Rs2.4 million.
Sources said the Customs Gwadar authorities are using all available resources to curb the smuggling attempts in the region.
