ISLAMABAD: The Special Car Cell of the Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Federal Board of Revenue Islamabad, has impounded a smuggled non-duty paid used Honda Accord CIF valued Rs2.014million and its evaded duty and taxes amount is Rs5.3million. The car is owned by the Accountant General Pakistan Revenue (AGPR).
According to sources, Special Car cell of Islamabad Directorate on a tip-off that a non-duty paid smuggled car has parked at Karachi Company Sector G-9 Markaz Islamabad. The team rushed to the spot and found the vehicle parked there. Despite hectic efforts, nobody came forward to claim the ownership. The staff of the directorate lodged an FIR at police station Karachi Company. informed the station house officer about situation.
The Anti-Smuggling Organization staff took the vehicle into possession and shifted it to the headquarters Customs I&I Islamabad. The Customs Special Car Cell checked the PRAL and auction data but no import and auction entry was found against the non-duty paid Honda Accord. The Customs Car Cell impounded the vehicle for being unclaimed under Section 17 of the Customs Act-1969. Now the cell will verify its import and auction status and payments of duty and taxes.
