ISLAMABAD: Government has introduced new internet policy for customs department which believed that no Customs official will allowed to entertained official businesses via private email address while proper record of such official business shall be maintained by nominated team by Member IT of FBR.
According to details, Customs department that seamless internet connectivity, optimum utilization of allocated bandwidth and to secure internet correspondence the new policy has been introduces which will observed across by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and its field formation comprises Customs and IRS (Inland Revenue Service) including all Directorate Generals and allied offices with immediate effects without any exceptions.
The sources told that official internet connectivity including local area network, WiFi networking and FBR Unified Network (FUN) shall only be used for official business, it added that all types of social sites and excessive downloads for all users shall remained inaccessible from official connectivity while only “Whats App” communication will be allowed.
The sources stated that YouTube and other video downloading shall remained inaccessible, there will be complete restriction on development of wireless routers/access points by individual officers while there is availability of high speed LAN connectivity except with the approval of IT-Wing justification the requirements.
It added that email communications for official business shall only be made through official email address already allotted to each officer, any request made through private email address shall not be entertained, sources further told that downloading of heavy files above 20MB shall be restricted all such requests shall be forwarded to the designated IT support team in respected office.
The proper record of such official business shall be maintained by such nominated support team, it added that said policy has been imposed by the approval of Chairman FBR and Secretary Revenue Division.
