ISLAMABAD: The federal government has withdrawn tax exemption on intending pilgrims and has imposed Rs 5,000 tax on each pilgrim. All the field formations and airline have been directed to collect this tax from the pilgrims.
After receiving these directions from the Federal Board of Revenue, all the airlines have started collecting Rs 5,000 tax from pilgrims.
It is important to mention here, that hajis were exempted from the air travel tax in 2006 but now the government has decided to impose air travel tax again.
Sources told that with the imposition of this tax, the tickets of all airline will become more expensive and it will be a overburden on intending hajis.
