SIALKOT: Director General Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department Shaukat Ali said the present government is ready to facilitate the department as the government has formulated a plan to curb menace of smuggling.
He said this while talking to the officials of the department at Gujranwala office on the other day. Director Punjab Zeba Hayee, Deputy Director Gujranwala Region Ali Zeb Khan, Assistant Director Itrat Hussain, Superintendent Tahir Rafique, Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Sarwar, Office Superintendent Sajjad Rubbani, Intelligence Officers/Inspectors Syed Majid Raza, Saad Iqbal Sidhu and Mian Muhammad Yousaf were also present.
Shaukat said all the officials of the department should perform duty honestly and diligently to strengthen the national economy of the country. If officials of department will get success to curb smuggling then the economy of country will become stronger day by day, he remarked. He advised the department to provide awareness to the citizens for discouraging the purchase of the foreign and smuggled items rather they should buy country’s items. He said the government has allowed the department to raid markets and shopping plazas where shopkeepers are selling smuggled items.
He said the officers performing duty honestly for curbing smuggling will be awarded and rewarded with cash also. He added that the department should not spare non-duty paid vehicles as they are used for crimes. He also checked the record and performance of the officials of the department of Gujranwala Region. He assured the deputy director of addressing the shortage of staff and solving their problems soon.
