ISLAMABAD: Government is facing some legal complications in the auction process of vehicles under possession of divisions and departments ahead of September 17 auction and asked FBR to complete legal implications before auction, it is learnt here.
Official sources told Customs Today that Federal Board of Revenue received instructions from the federal government to review and fulfill all legal prerequisites for auction of Toyota Lexus Suv model 2006, 4700 CC vehicle bearing registration no. JT-JHT00W564013596.
Sources added that this Toyota Lexus SUV model 2006 vehicle was gifted to the ex-prime minister by Prince Fahd bin Sultan, Governor of Tabuk province in 2006 and in this regard government asked FBR to check for all legal implications of this special vehicle which is under usage of cabinet division.
Sources added that customs wing of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has completed working on this matter and said that such vehicle which is gifted as on diplomatic rank are exempted from duty and taxes and need to complete legal prerequisites before the auction.
Sources added that this vehicle will be auctioned under supervision of FBR; however, the auction will be held in PM House on 17 September 2018.
It is important to mention here that Prime minister Imran Khan, in his first address to the nation, had emphasized on cost-cutting for the government expenditure and as a measure had announced auction of surplus PM House vehicles.
