FAISALABAD: All the government departments in the division would use potable bottled water filled through the water plant installed by Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa).
Inaugurating the Wasa bottling plant function, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Noorul Amin Mengal Sunday said this water was according to the international standard. He said the Punjab government had set a target to supply potable water to every house in Faisalabad by 2017 with the assistance of foreign investors. Under this programme, a number of projects were being executed on war-footings, he added.
Wasa Managing Director Syed Zahid Aziz briefed the DCO and told that Wasa bottling plant had been completed with an estimated cost of Rs 8 million while Chinese engineers had provided technical assistance to complete this project on urgent basis.
He said the Wasa Plant was producing 1000 cans having 19 liters water daily which were being sold to the people at rate of Rs 50 per can. He said the Wasa had also offered its service to supply bottled water at the doorsteps of the consumers but for this purpose, they would have to pay Rs 70 instead of Rs 50 per can as Wasa would charge Rs 20 as delivery service fee.
