ISLAMABAD: Contrary to consumers’ expectations for cut in petrol and High speed diesel prices, the government has decided not to change the prices of all petroleum products for next month (May) and maintain the previous prices as same.
In a press briefing on Thursday, Ishaq Dar said that after making adjustment in sales tax and petroleum levy, the prices of the products would remain unchanged for next month.
He said that due to change in prices of petroleum products in the international market, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) had recommended to increase the price of high octane by Rs 9.43 per liter, kerosene oil by Rs 2.11 and light diesel oil by Rs 3.38 per liter.
Similarly, OGRA also recommended decreasing the price of petrol by Rs 1.00 from Rs 74.29 to Rs 73.29 and that of High Speed Diesel (HSD) by Rs 1.06 to Rs 82.55 per liter.
However, under the special directives of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the government decided to make no changing in the prices.
