LONDON: Google has released a new feature for Android users in the US and Britain that offers restaurant recommendations based on users’ needs.
Looking for a lunch spot nearby? The new feature will offer up a few choices that include photos, ratings and reviews from other diners.
In line with the growing trend for personalised apps that anticipate users’ needs, the new feature will likewise make recommendations based on a user’s past history.
For example, Google Maps may recommend a restaurant that’s popular with other diners who also visited an eatery that you’ve been to in the past.
After picking the appropriate category for your craving – breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee, drinks – the app then offers more filters that include cheap, quick or family-friendly restaurant selections.
The latest update is available in the ‘Explore’ feature of Google Maps.
