ISLAMABAD: Chief Collector North Sarwat Tahira has obtained approval from the chief minister of Gilgit-Baltistan to construct Customs House and staff colony at Sust border.
Deputy Collector (Headquarters) Ayesha Wani told Customs Today that Chief Collector Sarwat Tahira were on an official visit of Gilgit Baltistan from July 22 to July 28, 2016.
She said that the chief collector’s visit was very fruitful in resolving issues faced by the customs staff and the business community at Pak-China border. She also discussed measures to enhance trade with China and collect more revenue.
Deputy Collector Naghma e Tehniat was also accompany her while Collector Gilgit Baltistan Ali Raza was with her during important meeting held with different officials of GB. She said that Custom Station GB opens for business activities after 1st April every year and it closed due winter season from 1st December to 31 March.
Deputy Collector said that Chief Collector North Sarwat Tahira Habib visits Customs station Sust, Customs Collectorate Gilgit Baltistan and dry port Sust.
The Chief Collector Sarwat Tahira also met with Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan, Chief Secretary GB and IG of Gilgit Baltistan. She discuss the matter facing the Custom staff working on Pak-China border at Sust and request the Chief Minister GB for allotment of land of 40 kanal to make Custom House building at GB, the Chief Minister agreed for this proposal of land acquisition and order to hand over required land to Custom authorities to make building for GB Collectorate.
DC said that Chief Collector also met with Custom staffs who is working to get more revenue through Pak-China border, she said that if we get over matter of Custom staff working at Sust border we can get more and more revenue for financial year 2016-17.
