ISLAMABAD: Model Customs Collectorate, Gilgit Baltistal (GB) collected Rs 450.21 million in November 2016-17 against the assigned target of Rs 224.5 million. The department collected Rs 1,826.26 million as duty and taxes during the first five months of FY2016-17.
In an exclusive interview to Customs Today, Assistant Collector Akbar Jan said that GB will follow strict and speedy examination and clearance during the financial year. The GB is following these measures because it wants to maintain the performance of second quarter (October to December FY16-17) as it collected record revenue in the history of Sost dry port during the first quarter (July to September) FY2016-17.
He said that during 1st July to 30th November the Collectorate collected revenue of Rs752.622 million under the head of customs duty adding that the GB collected revenue amounting Rs13.630 million under head of customs duty during month of November FY2016-17.
Akbar told that during first five months of FY16-17 the department collected Rs100.714 millions under the head of regulatory duty (RD) as GB collected revenue under head of RD amounting Rs27.697 million during month of November.
Assistant Collector GB added that during above said period the GB collected revenue under head of redemption fine amounting Rs3.935 million as GB collected revenue under head of redemption fine Rs1.290 million.
He said that during July to November 2016-17 the GB collected Rs857.471 million revenue under head of customs duty as GB collected revenue of Rs197.193 million in November 2016.
He said that during first five months of FY16-17, GB collected revenue under head of sales tax (ST) amounting Rs613.302 million as GB collected revenue under head of sales tax amounting Rs169.246 million during month of November.
He told that during first five months GB collected revenue as additional sales tax amounting Rs92.053 million while the department collected revenue under head of additional sales tax Rs22.809 million during month of November.
He said that GB collected revenue in the wake of sales tax amounting Rs705.355 million during first five months of financial year 2016-17 as GB collected revenue under head of total sales tax amounting Rs192.055 millions during month of November FY16-17.
Akbar said that GB collected revenue under head of income tax during first five months of FY16-17 amounting Rs263.562 million and it collected revenue under head of income tax amounting Rs60.964 million during month of November.
He said that during first 4 months of financial year 2016-17 the Sost dry port cleared less containers but import figures have increased 45% than the corresponding financial year 2015-16 and GB cleared 920 containers under head of import value of Rs1724.326 million.
Regarding performance of GB during last month, the Assistant Collector said that up to November 14 of current financial year, GB cleared 149 containers under head of import value amounting Rs551.702 million as during same period of the corresponding year the GB cleared 302 containers under head of import value amounting Rs1.209 million adding that this performance shows that during current financial year the performance of GB is much better than last financial year.
He added that during month of October 2016, GB cleared 210 containers under head of import value amounting Rs1097.082 million as during same period of corresponding year, GB cleared 197 containers under head of import value amounting Rs505.753 million.
