ISLAMABAD: Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) directed Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to form an independent committee to probe the illegal auction of vehicles and clearance of Iranian motor oil on bogus documents and submit the report within 30 days, it is learnt here.
Official sources told Customs Today that Federal Tax Ombudsman issued order while hearing the case related to FBR official’s involvement in malfunctions and corruptions in which it is stated that FBR officials are found involved in illegal auction of vehicles, clearance of Iranian motor oil on bogus documents and other malfunctions that’s why FBR are directed to form an independent committee to probe this matter and dig out the responsible officials.
Sources added that FTO also directed in its order to find out that how huge quantity of Iranian motor oil is cleared earlier than its manufacture date on sales tax invoices and import documents, while it is also needed to investigate that how and why the consignments of Gilgit importers are cleared on Faisalabad Dry Port.
FTO also directed to probe that why a Toyota Hiace was auctioned even there is a stay order by the collector Appeals, sources added.
