ISLAMABAD: Different benches of the Federal Service Tribunal (FST) held the hearings of over a dozen of petitions filed by the FBR employees during the first week of December. The employees had challenged the administrative measures of the board.
In this regard, a division bench of the FST headed by Chairman Justice (r) Syed Zahid Hussain, reserved decisions on a couple of cases. The FST bench comprising Justice (r) Syed Zahid Hussain and Syed Muhammad Hamid heard the cases filed by Akbar Ali Shad, Qaiser Khan, Taj Muhammad and Ahmed Saeed and reserved the decisions. Hearing on other cases was adjourned until the next week. On the previous hearing, the bench had directed the sides to finalize arguments.
The division benches of the FST comprising Syed Rafique Hussain and Dr Nazir Saeed; and Ishtiaq Ahmed and Javed Iqbal Kasi heard several other cases and adjourned the hearing for coming weeks. Members heard complaintss about promotion, reversion, and seniority.
Syed Rafique Hussain and Dr Nazir Saeed heard Abdul Hakim Khan’s petition on ‘implementation’, Abida Aslam Rathor’s case on reversion, Shafqat Rasool Sindhu’s submission on censure, and Aleem Ahmed’s case about his seniority. The bench, after receiving main counsels request seeking time to give arguments, adjourned the hearings. These cases were filed in 2013 and yet were being awaited to be decided.
Meanwhile, another bench of FST, comprising Ishtiaq Ahmed and Javed Iqbal Kasi resumed the hearing of complaints filed by Inamul Haque, Muhammad Musharraf, Muhammad Ramzan, Jawad Hussain Memon, Mushtaq Ali Tunio, Ramchand, Ali Dost, Muhammad Abdul Rahim, Ahmed Ali Wasan, Jawad Hussain Memon, and others. The bench dated in office the hearing of these complaints after hearing brief arguments from the sides. It is pertinent to mention here that some of the mentioned cases were being contested at the tribunal since 2013.
Inamul Haque had filed an ‘implementation’ case. He had prayed the tribunal to direct the board on implementing its previously announced decision about his promotion. Muhammad Musharraf, Muhammad Ramzan and others had filed promotion cases, demanding the tribunal to ensure their promotion to the higher scales as per rules of the department.
