ISLAMABAD: The export of fresh fruits has increased by 28.95 percent during the current fiscal year when compared to corresponding period of the last year.
However, vegetables export has decreased by 28.31 percent during the current fiscal year as compared to the exports of the corresponding period of last fiscal year. The fruit exports from the country during the month of July this year grew by 28.95 percent as compared to same month of last financial year, according to the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
The data showed that 26,909 tonnes of fresh fruits were exported that earned $ 23.086 million during the first month of current financial year as compared to the exports of last year which were of 21,980 tonnes and valued $ 17 million. On month to month basis, about 33,714 tonnes of fruit was exported in June as compared to the exports of 26,909 tonnes in July.
During the first month of current financial year, country earned $ 8.25 million by exporting the vegetables of different kinds as compared to the exports of $ 11.52 million of same period last year.
The exports of pulses registered zero growth in the first month. Meanwhile, wheat exports grew by 100 percent and about 86 tonnes of wheat worth $ 0.29 million was exported.
In first month of the current fiscal year, exports of oil seeds, nuts and corn kernels increased by 67 percent and about 606 tonnes of said commodities, worth $ 1.03 million, were exported as compared to the exports of 448 tonnes valuing $ 0.616 million of same period last year.
