KARACHI: Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry Acting President Shaukat Ahmad has said that the FPCCI has chalked out a comprehensive policy to enhance economic activities in the country and to boost exports.
The FPCCI president said that the documents would be presented to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari and Imran Khan for a consensus. He said that poor law & order situation, terrorism, criminal activities, ethnic and sectarian tensions were basically the off-shoots of growing poverty and economic miseries of the common man.
“Under these circumstances, accelerated investment is badly needed to resolve these issues. The present fiscal deficit and saving-investment gap have reduced our ability to invest in mega infrastructure projects,” he said.
Shaukat Ahmed said that more than 80 per cent of the economic activity is being handled by private sector and FPCCI is the apex body which represents private sector. In the recent past, the FPCCI recommended several policy measures regarding economic vision 2025, infrastructure development, foreign investment and fiscal policy and all these projections turned out to be true.
