FAISALABAD: The Customs Field Intelligence Unit (FIU) Sargodha has seized a big quantity of non-duty-paid miscellaneous items worth Rs2.2million involving duties and taxes of Rs1.5million during a successful raid.
Sources told Customs Today that the FIU team intercepted a Mazda trailer bearing registration No: TLE-939 near Mianwali toll plaza, M.M Road, Mianwali.
The FIU team checked the vehicle and recovered 480-kg of Indian red-chili, walnuts weighed 2625-Kg made in China, F/O Vaseline numbered 6000, Facia brand, Jackets for men 86-kg, empty tank for LTV vehicles numbered 22 and other items.
The team asked the owner named Muhammad Javeed son of Zareen Khan, a resident of Abbottabad, to show the documents regarding the legal import of the items. But he remained failed. There was no arrangement for a thorough search of the vehicle therefore it was brought to the intelligence office.
Later, the FIU team seized the items under Section 16 of the Customs Act-1969 and 3 (1) (3) of the Import and Export Control Act-1950 punishable under Section 156 (1) 90 of the Customs Act-1969 and forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication.
