London : hundreds of thousands of UK companies face losing access to EU markets in a “no-deal” Brexit because they have not completed even the most basic paperwork, the Government has warned.
Officials fear they will have to let vehicles through the border with no checks, ignoring their lack of paperwork simply to avoid a crisis of goods stuck outside the country.
Five in every six companies that trade with the EU but no other markets have not begun the process of registering for customs documentation, and have little time left to sign up if they want to be ready for March 29.
