LAHORE: Seized mobile phones worth Rs11.3 million are found missing from the godown of Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation located in Jehanzeb Block Allama Iqbal Town Lahore.
Sources told Customs Today that a case is already registered against Intelligence Officer Abdul Hameed who is the incharge of Customs Intelligence and Investigation godown. Sources told that during routine stock taking of godown it was found that some 1763 mobiles of different brands are missing which were seized in November 2015 during an intelligence base operation.
Customs Intelligence and Investigation team deposited these mobile phones in godown. Sources told that during stock taking when the customs team asked from the incharge of godown about these mobile phones Intelligence officer Abdul Hameed failed to satisfy the customs authorities about these mobiles. He informed the investigation team that he already sold these mobile phones to CSD Store in Rs1.5 million.
Sources told that Customs Intelligence and Investigation authorities registered a case against Intelligence Officer Abdul Waheed on charges to sell seized mobile phones without taking prior permission from competent authority.
It is necessary to mention here that after assuming the charge Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Rubab Sikandar has directed all anti smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling and corruption.
