LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) unearthed a fake stent selling scam in different hospitals and seized fake stents worth Rs 40 million.
According to details, the FIA team on a tip-off raided the Mayo Hospital and found the hospital staff selling fake stents to heart patients and extracting money from them. The gang sold a fake stent at Rs 200,000 while its actual price in the open market is Rs 6,000.
A citizen named Khizar Hayat, a resident of Upper Mall Lahore, approached the FIA to register a case against the Lahore Medical Complex. He told the FIA that the hospital management charged him the price of original stent but had not provided the promised one.
Sources said that a company M/s Pak Punjab Cardex Medical System located at 257-K Phase-I, DHA Lahore, is involved in the sale of unregistered and fake stents.
