ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) yet to announce provisional net revenue collection for fiscal year 2017-18 even eight days has passed since the previous fiscal year closed.
According to official sources that the FBR is intentionally not announcing the provisional data of previous fiscal years because the top management of the board is feeling uneasy with the transfer of ex FBR chairman Tariq Mehmood Pasha days before closing the FY 2017-18.
Sources added that the board has tradition to announce the provisional figure immediately after closing the fiscal year. He pointed out that previously for FY 2016-17 the board has collected Rs3,370 billion of provisional net revenue which was announced at midnight on July 1 and same as for the FY 2015-16 the board announced at midnight immediately after closing the fiscal years.
Sources also told that the top management and high level of officers have the concerns that if it was very needed to transfer the chairman during the critical time as the board was taking serious steps regarding amnesty scheme then government should just wait until July 1, 2018.
Sources further told that the board has collected Rs3,850 billion which a good revenue however, due to differences among the high level official in the board created after the transfer of Tariq Mehmood Pasha the board yet to announce the provisional net collection for previous fiscal year.
