KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has upgraded the cadre posts in the Customs Department from BS-14/15 to BS-16, bringing smiles on the faces of the customs officials who have been long waiting for the decision.
In this regard, the Chief (Management Customs) Muhammad Junaid Jalil Khan has issued a circular No 13(5)-M-IV/2007.Cust-III, notifying the promotion of deputy superintendents, senior intelligence officers, preventive officers, appraisers, examiners and valuation officers. “In order to give promotional incentives to the executive cadres posts in the Pakistan Customs Department under the Federal Board of Revenue, the following cadres/ posts in the Customs Department were upgraded from BS-14/15 to BS-16 on 7-01-2013 vide Board’s notification No 0065-IRIV/2013 dated 7.1.2013”, according to a letter available with Customs Today.
According to notification, the posts of deputy superintendent customs/ senior intelligence officer BS-15 has been upgraded to BS-16, inspector customs/intelligence officer BS-14 upgraded to BS-16, inspector preventive service BS-15 upgraded to BS-16, preventive officer BS-14 to BS-16, appraiser BS-15 to BS-16, examiner BS-14 to BS-16 and valuation officer BS-15 to BS-16. “The Finance Division and Establishment Division had allowed the above up-gradation subject to necessary amendment in the recruitment rules for these posts and removal of anomaly in administrative structure of above cadres”, the letter added.
