LAHORE: The Federal Revenue Alliance Employees Union (FBR Union) has suggested the government to donate their one day salary to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan.
In a letter written to FBR Chairman Tariq Bajwa, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah, FBR Union Central President Mian Abdul Qayyum announced on behalf of the workers of the FBR that the employees were ready to donate their one-day salary for the rehabilitation for IDPs of North Waziristan where presently military operation is underway against terrorists.
He suggested the chairman to announce officially donation of one-day salary by the all ranks of the Federal Board of Revenue to help the displaced people in this critical situation. The union proposed the PM to issue directives to all government departments to follow the practice while the opposition leader Khurshid Shah should also endorse this noble cause, giving a good message to those who are fighting the war of Pakistan. The union leader also declared that the whole nation, including the FBR workers, is standing with the armed forces for their struggle to combat terrorism in the country. In the letter, he also pointed out the miserable security of the all regions of the FBR since no properly trained security staff has been appointed in RTOs. He said that in all offices only peons and notice servers are performing this duty, who do not know even how to catch a rifle which is absolutely a security risk. In view of present threat from the terrorists, the FBR authorities should beef up security measures at all the regional tax offices, appointing trained and professional security guards with latest and state of art arm for the safety of tax collectors and visiting taxpayers. Mian Qayyum said that the nation wants to ensure prosperity, peace and stability of the country by providing complete moral support to Pak Army in an operation against terrorists.
He said that this is the defining moment of the history of country.
