ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue Chairman Tariq Mehmood Pasha has warned the tax evaders and non-filers belonging to rich community that if they will not take the advantages of amnesty scheme then they should be ready to face the law.
He has stated this during a meeting with parliamentarians at Parliament House.
“We have travel history, bank transactions record, property details, cell-phone use record and their other expenditures history of last few years and we will not let them allow to further evade tax,” the chairman told the lawmakers.
He disclosed that the FBR has established a Data Bank of one million people and also shared this with National Database Registration Authority (NADRA).
“Amnesty scheme is an opportunity, avail it, declare their assets and wealth beyond means otherwise we have prepared a strategy how to handle them,” he said.
After June 30, the Federal Board of Revenue will serve the notices on these one million people through related regional tax offices, he claimed.
He said although FBR is in favor of tax-friendly environment but the richest community is not realizing the government’s friendly policies.
“We have a plan and FBR is going to implement this from 1st of July 2018. We will achieve the revenue targets of the current financial years,” he hoped, adding that amnesty is not a weakness of FBR.
