SIALKOT: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to tighten its noose around the neck of tax defaulters. The FBR authorities have also started scrutinizing data of those industrialists and businessmen who show less income than last year despite having good businesses.
An official of the FBR told Customs Today that a majority of these industrialists and businessmen operates forged bank accounts by using the name of their relatives and servants. The FBR sources revealed that these businessmen and industrialists are running their businesses by using others’ names. They did not mention the name of bank in their tax returns to avoid tax payments, they said.
The official said that FBR authorities have already finalized negotiations with Pakistan Banking Association in this regard. He said that Chairman FBR Nisar Muhammad Khan has issued orders to all Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) in the country to take stern action against said industrialists and business men because they are deceiving with FBR and concealing their real income.
He said after completion of process of scrutiny the real position would expose and then FBR will take stern position against them. He said the process of scrutiny is continue under the experts of FBR in RTO’s and after some days this process will be completed then action will be started. He said RTOs will issue notices to said industrialists and businessmen and if they will not contact to RTO’s then legal action will be taken against them and no pressure will be accepted.
