KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to issue notices to those who are gaining taxable income but avoiding to pay income tax.
Sources told Customs Today that that this decision has been taken to enhance GDP percentage for tax. These persons also have NTN but did not submit their tax returns for the fiscal year 2014-15. These sources further said that notices are being issued to these individuals according to Income Tax Act 2001 Section 114.
According to sources, these persons will be allowed to avail six days time period to pay outstanding dues after their failure strict legal action will be taken against them including imposing of heavy fine on them. Sources claim that according to Income Tax Ordinance 2001 section 122 income tax officials will conduct provisional assessment of tax defaulters also and if they will not contact the concerned income tax office within thirty days then tax officials assessment will be considered as final.
