ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue has decided to bring changes in the jurisdictions of Multan Regional Tax Office under which a Regional Tax Office (RTO) will be established in Sahiwal.
FBR Chairman Nisar Mohammad Khan has granted approval for setting up a separate RTO in Sahiwal, a division that earlier fell in the jurisdiction of Multan RTO and has a commissioner.
With the consent of the chairman, a team has started preparing feasibility report under the supervision of Inland Revenue-Operation Member Dr Muhammad Irshad.
Now, the FBR will recruit new staff for the RTO and allocate new building to it, while the Ministry of Finance will provide funds for the project.
The jurisdiction of the RTO will be extended to other nearby cities and it will be equip will latest technology in order to link it with the FBR Headquarter. The RTO would be completed by the end of current year or in the start of next year.
In order to bring all cities into tax net following the suggestions of Tax Reforms Commissions, the FBR will establish regional office in other cities.
Officers of grade 16 will be recruited through Public Service Commission and other lower staff through NTS for the new Sahiwal RTO.
