KARACHI: A high-level meeting, chaired by the Chairman FBR Nisar Mohammad Khan, has decided to establish a cell to keep an eye on the officers involved in the corrupt practices. The cell will also listen to the complaints of the people, taxpayers and importers.
The blanket of the national action plan has now been given to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) which is planning to establish the cell to curb corruption among the officials in the FBR itself as well as the departments connected to it.
The main focus of the newly established cell will be to closely watch the Customs, Inland Revenue Services and the Intelligence and Investigation Department.
The members of the meeting decided that the complainant will be bound to produce proof in form of document regarding any officer involved in corruption and the name of the complainant will be kept secret during the investigation.
It was also decided in the meeting that if the complainant provided fake information to the cell regarding any officer then the suspect will also be charged. The meeting was also attended by Member Customs Nasir Masroor. The documented draft for establishing the new cell will be finalized.
