ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has completed its working on revenue shortfall in the tobacco sector and all set to brief the Senate Committee meeting on Wednesday (today).
Official sources told Customs Today that special meeting of Senate Committee will held today to dig out the reasons of revenue shortfall in tobacco sector, while FBR team will brief the committee on the matter. Senator Kalsom Perveen will lead the committee meeting.
Sources added that FBR will highlight the tax revenue details submitted by the cigarette manufacturer during the last five years. While FBR will also provide details to committee members regarding raid conducted by FBR authorities on the illegal tobacco factories.
It is important to mention here that this committee has a member, Senator Dilawar Khan, who also a owner of cigarette company which is a question mark on the committee that how this committee will investigate the reasons of revenue shortfall in the tobacco sector.
