KARACHI: Keeping in view the directions of the government, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has already started taking action against officials and staff members who are found involved in malpractices, and corruption. These orders include suspension from duty, stoppage of allowances, and degradation in service.
It is further clarified that the FBR has already take action against 166 officials. For the last two years, the department has taken action against officials of Grade 16 to 21 who were found involved in corruption or had gone abroad.
According to sources, two officers of Grade 19 and 14 officers of grade 16 have been terminated while 24 are facing suspension.
Sources said that one officer of grade 21, three of grade 19, 7 of grade 17 also got terminations orders from the department.
Sources revealed that six staff members of the Inland Department were dismissed from service while six staff members got low punishment. According to the FBR record, 25 officials were availing ex-Pakistan leave. Upon completion of their leave, only nine officials reported back to duty while three officials remained absent and rest of three tendered their resignation. The remaining seven are already dismissed from service.
Sources says that last year 71 officials and staff members of Customs House were found involved in corruption and embezzlement, inquiries were conducted against them and in the light of investigations many staff members were dismissed and suspended from service and many approach for retirement who includes Collector Azhar Majeed Khalid, Collector Riffat A.Hassan, Additional Collector Ashar Azeem Gul, Additional Collector Mohammad Iqbal Muneeb, Assistant Collector Javed Usman, Assistant Collector Nauman Tashfeen, Deputy Collector Abid Hussain, Deputy Collector Jamshed Ali Talpur,Deputy Collector Tasleem Akhtar, Javed Hussain, Abdul Mubeen Khan, Adnan Ameen Malik, SM Waseem Kazmi, Ehsanul Haq Chaudhary, Abdul Ghani Soomro, Sardar Babar Durrani, Ameer Nasir Ali Khan, Sarfraz Ahmad Bangoi, Ehteshamul Haq Piracha, M. Anwar Khan, Ahmad Nawaz, Babar Gulzar, Abbas Khan, Munir Ahmad Birohi, and M. Anjum etc.
