ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) submitted reply in Supreme Court of Pakistan on taxes on mobile users.
According to details, Supreme Court of Pakistan has taken a suo-moto on extra taxes enacted on the mobile users and asked FBR to submit detailed report in this regard. FBR has submitted its report in the SC. According to FBR report; Pakistan has imposed less taxes compared to other countries like Bangladesh, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia on mobile usage. While different types of other taxes are also imposed in other countries on mobile users.
FBR stated in its report that the Board has collected Rs51 billion in terms of withholding tax (WHT) in FY 2016-17 while monthly collection from mobile users remains Rs4.5 billion
Meanwhile according to FBR report submitted in the SC, Pakistan has decreased taxes, as federal excise duty (FED) has been decreased to 17% while mobile user are also refunded advance withholding tax in their yearly tax returns.
