MULTAN: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed Regional Tax Office (RTO) to collect data of registered taxpayers and the businesses in the jurisdiction for broadening of tax net.
Chief Commissioner Regional Tax Office Multan Abid Raza Bodhla has been asked to provide details of their registered businessmen in the jurisdiction. The Regional Tax Office will also provide details of total number of registered taxpayer’s national tax number for the scrutiny. The Federal Board of Revenue is going to conduct survey and assessment of business activities in the jurisdiction for the broadening of tax base.
All chief commissioners of the Regional Tax Offices asked to conduct analysis and provide the information of registered taxpayers and the number of businesses being done in the jurisdiction. Sources told Customs Today that after analysis of businesses or individuals detected through broadening of tax base monitoring would be asked to file their returns.
“In case they refuse to file their returns then assessment will be made as per the law to bring them into the tax net. The FBR decided to bring business community into tax net after realizing huge monthly cash transactions and they will be convinced to become filer by paying their legitimate taxes and become of part of the documented economy.
The Regional Tax Office will submit report after identifying potential businesses for broadening of tax base after compiling data of taxpayers record before 24th June.
