ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue has reconstituted a committee for rehired and the fired employees of Pakistan Automation Revenue Limited, one of the board’s subsidiary responsible for managing data of federal and provincial taxpayers.
On the direction of Chairman Federal Board of Revenue Tariq Mehmood Pasha, the board has set up a new committee under the chairmanship of Member Customs Zahid Khokhar for rehired and sacked employees of Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL). The new committee comprises Member Customs Zahid Khokhar, Member Legal Dr. Muhammad Tariq Masood, Member Administration Tasneem Rehman, Member IT Khawaja Adnan Zaheer and Member Human Resource Management Nasir Masroor Ahmad. Chief Executive Officer PRAL Imran Amjad is also a member of the committee.
Before this, the committee consisted of three members and now three more members have been inducted into the committee. It is pertinent to mention here that in year 2015, almost half strength of Pakistan Automation Revenue Limited, nearly 550 employees, has been fired by the previous management of the Federal Board of Revenue.
The committee will review the issue on the case-to-case basis. The committee has started its work and is reviewing the cases but no decision has been taken regarding any single case yet. The decision to reemploy the sacked employees was taken by the PRAL’s board of directors whose majority is on the FBR payroll.
The board approved the changes in employment rules for rehiring despite the opposition from the FBR Member of Information Technology. It is also important to mention here that The Supreme Court has already rejected a petition filed by the terminated employees.
