LAHORE: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has provided updated version of Computerized Risk-Based Evaluation of Sales Tax (CREST) to the Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) and Large Taxpayers Unit to ensure sales tax recovery from defaulters.
Sources told Customs Today that the FBR has issued instructions to the chief commissioners to use CREST to increase the recovery of sales tax for the ongoing tax year.
Sources said that Chief Commissioner of Regional Tax Office-I (RTO-I) Tasneem Rehman and Chief Commissioner of Regional Tax Office –II (RTO-II) Khawaja Adnan Zaheer held various meetings to get benefits of CREST and increase sales tax.
It is necessary to mention here that CREST is used in monitoring of declaration made in sales tax returns. Through the use of CREST, Regional Tax Offices can easily detect sales tax defaulters.
