KARACHI: A reasonable number of members of the national and provincial assemblies and senators have not submitted their tax returns despite passing the last date issued by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
Senior official of the FBR told Customs Today that they have written letters to the speaker of the National Assembly, the Senate chairman and the speakers of all the four provincial assemblies. He said that “the department has extended date to December 5 for those members whose did not submit tax returns due to genuine problems”.
The FBR has also assigned duty to some officials to set temporary offices in parliament building and the Senate to facilitate these members. He further said that in the letters, the FBR has urged that all the parliamentarians to submit their tax returns before December 5 and the data of these tax returns will become part of the parliamentary text directory.
