MULTAN: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed Customs Collectorate to ensure the presence of their staff and officials at one window facilitation desk at Multan International Airport.
The FBR has received certain complaints about the absence of Customs officials from one window desk established at international airports of the country, including Multan Airport.
More than 80 flights operated from Multan airport after its inauguration and more international airlines are seeking permission for their flight operations from Multan.
The Federal Board of Revenue has established the one window facilitation desk for arriving passengers at Multan Airport to address the grievances of the passenger and customs staffs were also deputed in this regard.
It was observed that staff was missing from their duties at one window facilitation desk established on which Customs department was directed to ensure the presence of staff to facilitate the passengers.
Assistant Collector Muhammad Faizan Badar who is supervising Multan airport has responded on the Board letter on compliance report that Customs Multan has deputed deputy superintendent to attend duties on shift wise basis at one window customs facilitation desk at Multan airport who are performing their duties 24/7 basis vigilantly and regularly.
Sources told Customs Today that new strategy is being evolved in coordination with Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and Airport Security Force (ASF) for joint inspection of baggage clearance for swift authorization of passengers at Multan airport.
