ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed all secretaries in the federal and the provincial governments as well as heads of semi-government and the private sector to ensure that their staff members file their annual income tax returns this year.
According to sources, the FBR is near to achieve the target of 1 million filers and through these types of efforts, the FBR is hopeful of touching the figure to 1.8 million filers within a year.
Sources added that the FBR is introducing some new aspects like central data bank, easy tax procedures, minimum tax exemptions and withholding tax to promote a tax culture.
Sources added that last year around Rs 1.0 trillion in customs and sales tax were collected.
