MULTAN: The Federal Board of Revenue has devised effective automation of income tax refunds for the taxpayers’ facility.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to build confidence of taxpayers by ensuring transparency through automation of income tax refunds processing. The Federal Board of Revenue has developed a new module Income Tax Refund Module (ITRM) for the facilitation of taxpayers which is planned to be operative from the beginning of next tax year.
The Federal Board of Revenue has directed all field formations to take necessary action and complete certain processes to determine genuine income tax refunds of each taxpayer in respect of all the tax years before 31st July 2019.
Chief Commissioner Regional Tax Office Multan along with other field formations has been requested to initiate process of verification of claimed income refunds and complete their process of verification of each case till 15 July.
Tax offices concerned will check and verify name of taxpayer, national tax number/Computerized National Identity card, amount of claim as per return, tax year, adjustments and net verified refund amount after verification.
Tax office will also give their remarks on each income tax refund case if they find anything important during verification.
The complete income tax refund case will be sent to Inland Revenue Operations wing after updating data of taxpayers on Income Tax Refund Module (ITRM) for issuance of refund cheques on the basis of sanctioned orders from the field formations.
According to the procedure, the FBR has directed the Chief Commissioners of LTUs/RTOs to strictly follow the laid down procedure in processing and payment of income tax refund.
