ISLAMABAD: The Inland Revenue (IR) department of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has started investigations into the assets of the former President Asif Ali Zardari. The department is dissatisfied with the assets declared by Zardari in his tax returns.
Sources told Customs Today that the former president has declared the total worth of its assets in country and abroad as Rs 500 million, besides announcing the ownership of two bulletproof vehicles.
On the basis of information gathered by the Inland Revenue, sources said that Zardri has as many as six bulletproof vehicles and he did not mention about Bilawal House located in Bahria Town Lahore worth of millions of rupees. They said that according to the record of Bahria Town, Asif Ali Zardari is the owner of this palace.
They informed that IR has also gathered the information of businesses run by former President Zardari and it might be possible that tax notice would be served on him to get clarification in this regard.
