KARACHI: The Customs Department has decided to put all airports of the country at high alert after the incident of smuggling took place for the first time through a domestic flight.
Additional Collector Preventive Syed Asad Raza Rizvi, while talking to Customs Today, exclusively informed that the Customs Preventive had already sent recommendations to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Headquarters to enhance surveillance at domestic flights.
Additional Collector-ADC Syed Asad Raza Rizvi said that the Customs Preventive has also informed the collectorates across the country that smuggling trend through domestic flights has been started and there is a need to scrutinize local flights as well.
It is pertinent to mention here that the authorities concerned of Customs Preventive have already sent recommendations to the federal government about the induction of some latest equipment into the department for curbing the illegal trade and smuggling.
The Interior Ministry has asked the FBR authorities to take each and every step in order to curb the smuggling activities and leakages of dutiable taxes.
The ADC-Syed Asad Raza Rizvi further said that Customs Preventive is being made efforts in order to curb the smuggling activities from airport and have seized millions of worth smuggled goods including mobile phones, banned medicines, antiques and others in short span of time.
