KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue-FBR has decided to bring “Litigation Management System” in order to handle court cases related to tax evasion, it is learnt here.
Sources informed Customs Today that the FBR Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan and Member Customs Nasir Masroor Ahmed, with the consultation of other customs officers, have decided to implement the “Litigation Management System” in all field formation Collectorates across the country.
Sources further said that the authorities would first implement the “Litigation Management System” as a pilot project in all field formation Collectorates and then the system would be implemented from next month.
Apprising about the system, the sources said that the “Litigation Management System” would compile data of all the cases related to the tax evasion which had been committed in different field formation Collectorates.
“The entire system would be completely online and computerized and the authorities concerned can easily access through the cases which are in pending in different courts of law”, sources added.
Responding to a query, the sources informed this scribe that the FBR has also given the task to the authorities concerned of Directorate of Reforms & Automation in order to formulate the basic software of the “Litigation Management System” adding that the Directorate has almost completed its working on the following system. The sources further said that the Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) would look after the system after its implementation.
Before implementation of “Litigation Management System”, the Customs authorities were looking after the legal cases manually which on one hand creating difficulties while on the other hand not helpful in follow-up the cases and the Customs authorities were losing billions of rupees national exchequer.
