LAHORE: Collector Customs Lahore Rozi Khan Burki in his message on the occasion of “International Customs Day” said that International Customs Day is being celebrated on January 26th each year to commemorate the occasion of the founding of the World Customs Organization in 1953.
As the International Customs Day is celebrated each year with a different thematic focus and the theme of year 2016 is :’Digital Customs: Progressive Engagement.’
The Federal Board of Revenue is progressively engaged in the digitization of Customs processes and procedures and the foremost example in this regard is that of WeBOC software, whereby manifest declarations are being filed through web.
Further, to familiarize different stakeholders with WeBOC system, training courses for importers and clearing agents have been organised. As digitization is a continuous process, and entails inclusion and involvement of stakeholders at different levels, so capacity building of officers and officials is also being regularly carried out to successfully implement the automation processes.
