ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Nisar Mہhammad Khan has accepted application of a dismissed Lahore Customs inspector Muhammad Nadeem Bhatti for personal hearing and summoned him on December 8 directing him to bring all available evidence and documents.
Nadeem Bhatti was forcibly retired on the charges of misuse of powers, violation discipline and other charges by Administration member. The inspector was given ample chance to prove his innocence before imposing the major penalty, but he could not come up with strong evidence to prove himself innocent.
Proceedings against Nadeem Bhatti were initiated on complaints received to the Model Customs Collectorate, Lahore and at first step of investigation the performance allowance of the inspector was suspended. After completion of investigation, the case was sent to the Admin member for final decision where the inspector rejected all the allegations against him and asked for restoration of performance allowance.
However, he could not produce valid evidence and now he has approached FBR chairman to review the decision of Admin member. The chairman will announce decision after hearing the stance of Bhatti and in the light of available evidence.
