KARACHI: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Nisar Mohammad Khan says that the board has achieved 18 percent growth in overall tax collections in the nine months of the current fiscal year.
“The FBR has been given a target of Rs 3.104 trillion revenue collection for the fiscal year 2015-16. And in the six months, the FBR is some 5 percent behind the set target. We are on track to achieve revenue collection target by the end of year,” Chairman Nisar Mohammad Khan added.
He stated this while inaugurating the Large Taxpayers Unit-II (LTU-II) at Karachi that was recently established to broaden the tax net and the overall collection.
Furthermore, the FBR chairman said that the tax-to-GDP ratio last year was 0.3 percent, however this year it has increased to 0.8 percent. He added that there are one million return filers that could be increased by simplifying the return procedure.
