ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Tuesday signed a contract with the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi regarding ‘MBA Tax Management Programme’ for FBR officers.
Chairman FBR, Tariq Bajwa and Dean IBA, Dr. Ishrat Hussain signed the contract.
Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Revenue, Haroon Akhtar, were also present on the occasion.
Through this agreement, FBR would initiate process of grooming its BS-17 to 19 officers of Inland Revenue Service (IRS) and Pakistan Custom Service (PCS) having 2-12 years of experience through an MBA Tax Management Programme from IBA.
The approximate number of officers of FBR will be around 20-25 per year. The FBR would however, decide the final number for each year’s programme.
On the occasion, Ishaq Dar said he was pleased to see two prominent institutions of the country, FBR and IBA joining hands for imparting professional training to the in-service officers.
The training, he said, would strengthen professional skills of the FBR officers and ultimately reflect in better service delivery, facilitation of taxpayers and improvement in the taxation system.
The Minister hoped that cooperation between FBR and IBA would further expand in future. Dr. Ishrat Hussain, in his remarks said the IBA had also invited the Commerce ministry, AGP Office and other organizations to avail the excellent training services offered by IBA and looked forward to imparting training to FBR officers and programme is tailor-made keeping in view improvement of skill sets and facilitation of both the taxpayers and the tax collectors.
Tariq Bajwa on this occasion said that FBR has initiated the process for commencing MBA Tax Management Programme for the officers of the Inland Revenue Service (IRS) and Pakistan Custom Service (PCS) at IBA, Karachi.
The programme aims at providing the officers an exposure to modern management concepts and techniques.
