ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue Board in Council unanimously approved the draft of IT Strategy for FBR and directed CEO PRAL to present detailed plans and working of cost for up gradation of the IT system, in the next Board in Council meeting.
The meeting was held in FBR House which was presided over by Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan Member Inland Revenue Operation Dr. Muhammad Irshad, Member Inland Revenue Policy Rehmat Ullah Khan Wazir, Member Customs Nasir Masroor Ahmed, Member Tax Payers Audit Raana Seerat, Member Administration Muhammad Majid Qureshi, Member Legal Hafiz Muhammad Ali Indhar, Member FATE Nausheen Javaid Amjad, Member SPRS & IT Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, SA to Chairman Amjad Zubair Tiwana and Chief Admn Secretary Dr. Tariq Ghani.
During the meeting CEO PRAL made a detailed presentation on IT Strategy for FBR. It was highlighted that IT strategy was based upon mid to long term vision and technology approach.
It was emphasized that current challenges faced could be best tackled through introduction of DATA driven decision making approach. In order to ensure this, It was also pointed out that the IT strategy was based upon the plan to attain Active –Active mode which ensures better performance of existing applications.
Member Inland Revenue Operation and Member Inland Revenue Policy, highlighted various problems being faced by the field formations with regard to the slow speed of servers which resulted in problems pertaining to uploading of returns and statements.
Member IT assured that once up gradation was completed such problems would cease to exist as the up gradation would result in increasing the speed and capacity of the IT system.
