FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Faisalabad team confiscated miscellaneous goods worth Rs02.4million involving duty and taxes of Rs259953 during the road checking.
Sources told Customs Today that Customs Intelligence team was on a routine checking near Pansara Jhang Road Faisalabad. The customs team intercepted a trailer with registration No: JU-6641. The team recovered miscellaneous items including bathroom sets, (731-kg), hotpot sets, empty plastic inner stainless steel, plastic brand of China ( 407-kg), breakfast makers (1042-kg ), electric deep fryers (136-kg), empty storage bamboos (795-kg), universal wrenches ( 570-kg), electric coffee makers (88-pcs) and other items.
Prior to the recovery, the customs staff asked the driver to show legal documents regarding the possession and transportation of goods. The driver, identified as Ali Muhammad son of Ghulam Fareed, a resident of tehsil-district Jhang. He produced a bilty No: 88275 dated 4-01-2017 showing miscellaneous goods cleared from MCC Appraisement Karachi by M/s ATM traders, Madina Street, Bilal Gunj Market, Sargodha Road. The GD No: 88275 was compared with the recovers goods and it was observed that government exchequer has been deprived of its legitimate revenue by making mis-declaration in terms of weight, quantity, classification and value in the aforesaid GD.
The customs team confiscated the smuggled items and registered a case of smuggling against the accused. The Customs Intelligence team forwarded the case to the customs adjudication for further proceeding.
