FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation confiscated foreign origin sofa curtain cloth and old used tyres worth Rs1.7 million involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs900000 million.
Sources told Customs Today that following the instructions of Director Customs Intelligence Rubab Sikandir the Field Investigation Unit (FIU) intercepted a truck coming from Quetta and recovered curtain sofa cloth 1645 kilogram and used different brand size tyres.
The Faisalabad intelligence team comprising Superintendent Muhammad Tahir Iqbal, Intelligence Officer Mansoor Nasir, Irshad Ali also Sepoys Ajmal Hussain and Muhammad Musaddiq Ahmad asked the driver to produce the documents regarding the legal import of the items.
But the driver failed to produce any such documents after which the customs team impounded the tyres and cloth under the prevailing customs laws and registered a case against Qasim Hussain.
