FAISALABAD: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation foiled a bid to smuggle huge quantity of foreign origin methanol worth Rs4 million.
According to sources of Customs Today, reliable information was received that huge consignment of smuggled Methanol 350 drums made in Iran will be transported through Jhang route.
Deputy Director Khial Muhammad Khan formed special team including Superintendent Muhammad Tahir, Inspector Muhammad Irshad, Ansar Saleemi , Choudhary Saeed Hayat and others for thwarting any attempt of smuggling.
Customs intelligence team intercepted the suspected trailer bearing registration no: TLB-917 near Jhang Road and recovered huge quantity of methanol during examination of loaded goods. Driver of the goods company has provided booking details to customs team and the team started further action against the owner.
The Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized methanol under Customs Act 1969 and formed seizure report of the captured items. Further investigations are still underway.
