FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Faisalabad Field Unit, Khushab, has impounded foreign origin ladies garments and fabrics near Sial Mor, district Sargodha. The market value of the seized goods is Rs23million involving Customs Duty and taxes of Rs13million besides impounding a Mazda mini truck worth Rs500000.
Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Director Customs Intelligence and Investigations Riaz Hussain received a tip-off regarding the smuggling of the said garments and fabrics. He formed a raiding team comprising Muhammad Tahir, Muhammad Saleem(SIO) and Muhammad Sikander, Ghulam Ghous, M. Aslam (Sepoys).
The Customs team impounded a Mazda mini truck with registration No: LET-3375 when it was parked at Sial Mor. The Customs team recovered ladies shirt cloths and fabrics (3065-kg) and asked the accused, Muhammad Jameel, son of Baddar Zaman, a resident of tehsil and district Mansehra, to produce documents regarding the import of the cloths but he failed to provide the same.
After this, the customs team seized the cloths and registered a case against the accused.
