FAISAALBAD: The Model Customs Collectorate has seized 60 cell phones without packing and standard accessories worth Rs 180,000 involving duty/taxes Rs 88,507 from a bag at Faisalabad International Airport.
Sources told Customs Today that a passenger arrived at the airport through Qatar Air Flight No QR- 622 but his luggage was missing. He lodged a complaint regarding the missing of bag.
Later, the customs official received his bag from the airline authorities. The customs officials examined the bag and recovered 60 cell phones without packing and accessories, which were confiscated under Section168 of the Customs Act, 1969, violation of Section 2(s), read with SRO 566(1)/2005, section 16, 18, 139, 157(1), and 178 of the Customs Act.
It was reported that the accused passenger, Nadir Ali, resident of Sarafraz Colony Faisalabad having CNIC No, 33100-0997292-3 left the bag at the airport due the fear of examination.
Following the instructions of Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan Khan, the team comprsing Superintendent Zahid Raza Bukhari, Inspector Muhammad Munir Ahmed, Shahid Iqbal, Ahmad Hussain, Muhammad Asif Nawaz, Sepoys Mehboob and Abdul Sttar seized the mobile phones.
